Ben Roberston

Bass Trombone

“I’m very fortunate to have been under David’s direction and tutelage for a while now, so I knew the music leadership was always going to be of the highest level. The thing that has struck me the most is how easy it is to play with my colleagues. Their abilities can only make you stronger as a player individually, and it has been such a joy to make music with one of brass banding’s most treasured ensembles.”

Brass banding career highlights:
Accolades and titles are great, but my highlight has to be the community and lifelong friendships that come with playing in a brass band. Right from starting out at district camps and youth bands to festival bands and the National Band, it really is a special fraternity being involved in brass banding in New Zealand.
